The abundance of street dogs is one of the first things I noticed when I arrived in Chile. Though not family pets in the traditional sense, these friendly creatures were often cared for by locals who treated them with as much love as their own animals. Kindness manifests itself into a knitted jumper or a make-shift bed made for a four-legged friend to keep them warm during the colder, meaner months.
