There's a special, ghostly atmosphere to tiny towns in remote parts of the world such as Puerto Natales. You can be walking down the deserted main street in the middle of the day, and be struck by how oddly quiet everything is. No people, no traffic, no bustle.
Spending a couple of days in Puerto Natales, I spent a shamefully large percentage of my time huddled in the local cafe warming up after a day of windy adventures, as well as wandering along the road that snakes towards the mountains and the 'end of the world'. Worth it for this view alone.
